“They shall dwell securely, and none shall make them afraid.”
-Ezekiel 34:28
About Brooke
From a young age, the Lord used ministry opportunities and personal experiences of pain to cultivate Brooke’s heart for walking alongside the hurting. In the summer of 2012, she began praying for direction, asking God how He desired to use the heart He had formed within her. The journey of discovery has looked much different than she expected, but God’s faithful handiwork is evident throughout it all.
Brooke has over 10 years of experience, both locally and globally, walking alongside survivors of trauma, abuse, and sexual exploitation. She is passionate about supporting women through the ups and downs of life. Her desire is to help others uncover and replace harmful belief systems and address root-level issues through the truth of Scripture.
As an experienced program and curriculum developer, Brooke is passionate about creating pathways for healing and restoration. She also enjoys helping organizations develop structures and procedures that promote efficiency and sustainability.
Brooke finds joy in any opportunity to comfort others with the same comfort she has received from the Lord. Her greatest desire is to cultivate transformation in human hearts through the guidance of God’s Word and the leading of the Holy Spirit.
On a personal note, Brooke was born in California and raised in Iowa. She enjoys home design, anything competitive or outdoorsy, humor, coffee, sweet treats, quality time with loved ones, and playing with her Maine Coon cat, Ivanna. She is deeply grateful for the love and support of her husband, Cody, and cherishes the way biblical counseling has allowed her to prioritize precious time with her daughters.
Brooke’s Education
Brooke holds a B.A. in Psychology from Bethel University, Biblical Counseling Certifications from the Association of Biblical Counselors (Level 2) and the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors and a CCTCP Level 1 Certification from the Christian Trauma Healing Network.
About The Dwelling Co
The vision for The Dwelling Co was born in the summer of 2014 during a 7-week internship in Bangkok, Thailand with Samaritan Creations, a safe home devoted to ministering the gospel and providing alternative options for survivors of sexual exploitation. It was there, in the quiet moments of Brooke’s devotional reading, that the Lord used Ezekiel 34 to plant seeds of a vision for caring for the hurting.
Brooke was deeply moved by the imagery of God as the faithful Shepherd who rescues His flock from harm and leads them to redemption. In response, she scribbled “His Dwelling Place” in the margin of her Bible, a phrase that captured the essence of what God impressed upon her heart: a calling to reflect the compassionate care of the True Shepherd.
Ezekiel 34 reveals that: He removes the oppressive shepherds, replacing them with a new Shepherd who lovingly cares for His people; He banishes threats so His flock can dwell in safety and peace; He blesses the land to provide for their physical needs; and He breaks the chains of bondage so His people can truly know Him.
The care of God seen in this passage models the holistic, intentional and redemptive care that The Dwelling Co seeks to exemplify. Like the care of Christ, our mission is not only to meet physical, emotional, and social needs, but also to draw each individual into a deeper relationship with Him.
The gospel—the story of Jesus intentionally choosing His dwelling place—offers the foundational hope we all desperately need: Jesus Christ, moved by compassion, left heaven to dwell among humanity (John 1:14); He willingly chose the dwelling of the cross, conquering death, and securing robes of righteousness for all who place their faith in Him (2 Cor. 5:21); He now dwells in Heaven, interceding as our empathetic High Priest (Heb 4:14-16); He sent the Holy Spirit to dwell within believers, offering comfort, guidance, and the power to live God-honoring lives (Rom. 8:11). Because of Him, we can dwell in peace in the midst of life’s darkest seasons, anchored by a hope that surpasses all understanding (Phil. 4:6-8). We take comfort in this: our ultimate dwelling place is yet to come. He is preparing for us an eternal home, more glorious than we can imagine (Heb. 13:14).
